Is it appropriate to send a gift of American Cash to a wedding in Canada?

I am planning on sending a monetary gift to some friends who are getting married in Canada. The bride is American, but currently lives in Canada. Is it appropriate for me to send American currency to them for their wedding? Just trying to settle a disagreement with my wife right now. Thanks people of Yahoo Answers!
